Red, White, and Blue Pie Bars

These Red, White, and Blue Pie Bars are sweet, festive and so easy to make. They will be a great addition to your patriotic celebration or just to enjoy with your favorite pie filling.

I have said before, I love a good theme. See my Rudolf party for an example. love these pie bars because not only do they taste delicious, but they are simple to make. The bars come together in 10 minutes, so you’ll have a great dessert in no time.

I love to serve these bars on a cake plate or a festive platter. You can add in these American Flag toothpicks to add another patriotic addition and serve them right in the pan.

How to make these Red, White, and Blue Pie Bars

Tools Needed

To make these pie bars you do not need many tools at all. A hand mixer or a stand mixer will blend the base ingredients really well. You’ll also need a 9×13 pan to bake these bars in.

Ingredients

You only need a handful of ingredients to make this recipe. The pie filling can be store bought or something that you canned. I used blueberry pie filling, because blueberries are so delicious. You can substitute blackberry pie filling which is my husband’s favorite. You will also need a red pie filling. For this recipe I use cherries, but strawberries would work great too.

  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla
  • Flour
  • Walnuts (optional)
  • Blueberry or Blackberry Pie Filling
  • Cherry or Strawberry Pie Filling

Instructions for the Red, White, and Blue Pie Bars

These Red, White, and Blue Pie Bars could not be easier to make.

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
  • Butter or spray with nonstick spray a 9×13 pan
  • In your mixing bowl start by creaming the butter and sugar until they are well combined.
  • Add in the vanilla
  • Add eggs, 1 at a time and mix well.
  • Stir in the flour until it is combined
  • Finally, if you are using nuts stir them throughout the batter
  • Spread 3/4 of the batter into your buttered pan
  • Cover half with red pie filling
  • Cover the other half with the blue pie filling
  • Drop the remaining batter by spoonfuls over top of the pie filling
  • Spread the batter out with a spatula, but make sure your pie filling shows through
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes
  • Store these bars in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 Lb Butter
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 C Flour
  • 1 C Walnuts optional
  • 3/4 C Blueberry Pie Filling
  • 3/4 C Cherry Pie Filling

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  • In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar
  • Add vanilla
  • Add eggs, 1 at a time
  • Stir in flour until combined
  • Add nuts if using and distribute throughout the batter.
  • Spread 3/4 of the batter into a greased 9/13 pan. Cover half the batter with cherry pie filling. Cover the other half of the batter with blueberry pie filling. Drop the remaining batter by spoonfuls over the top of the pie filling. Spread the batter out with a spatula. Make sure you can see the pie filling through the batter.
  • Bake for 45 minutes
  • Cool for at least 2 hours and cut into squares
