Winter Front Porch Decor

|

It’s January and we are well into winter. The red and green Christmas decor has all been put away. Our homes feel fresh, clean, and shall I say it – bare! Okay, maybe just mine. But really. Now what do we do if we still want to decorate, but have no idea what to do? Read on for my take this year on winter front porch decor.

Use What You Have

Like my Christmas Porch Decor I really just wanted to use things that I already had. First, I started with my ‘Oh Hello‘ mat from Christmas and layered it under a buffalo check rug. I’ve linked a similar one that is also very cute. I’ll admit, I love anything black and white. I’ve been a sucker for buffalo plaid for a long time and because of this I use it in my decor whenever I can.

Next, I used pine from pine trees on our property to create a swag, make the wreath, and fill my crock. I am also a sucker for crocks and like the buffalo plaid – love to use them in my decor.

The swag was made using pine that was wired together in the center. I wired on pinecones and secured the whole thing on this vintage sled with vintage skates. A buffalo plaid ribbon finished off this part of the decor.

While I have had these the skates and sled for years, I encourage you to check your local antique dealers or even Facebook Marketplace for similar items. You may even have luck at the thrift stores.

In addition to the pine swag I created the wreath using things that I already had. Pine was wired on the wreath with pinecones. A buffalo plaid ribbon tied everything together. It sits on a hook on the door, and I love how it ties everything together.

In conclusion, I highly recommend using items that you already have around your house or items that are found in nature to create an inviting and welcoming front space. You can create a space that your guests will love without spending a lot. One idea I have used in the past is to just remove any red and green accents from your front porch wreath/decor to transition it to ‘Winter Decor.’ Hope this inspires you.
